Belle Meade Tennessee a wealthy neighborhood located just minutes southwest of downtown Nashville, made "Bloomberg's" top-50 list of most expensive small towns in America.

The historic blue blood suburb of Belle Meade with a population of about 2,900 residents is well known in for its mansions and old money.

The median household income in Belle Meade  is $232,500, according to the U.S. Census Bureau 2005-2009 estimates. The median home value of this prestigious neighborhood is $1,064,338 with a year over year average home price change of +8%....now this is the place for a positive real estate investment, if you have the entry fee. Belle Meade is considered to be one of the safest neighborhoods in Nashville.

Former Vice-President Al Gore owns a home in Belle Meade, along with a number of other notable elite residents. This scenic area has large, private estates and horse trails, and is close to beautiful Cheekwood botanical gardens and to the Warner Parks complex, which has a nature center, hiking trails, equestrian facilities, golf courses, and athletic fields. The town is also home to the Belle MeadePlantation, a 30-acre historic site that was a horse farm with a mansion built in 1853.

Some of the prominent neighborhoods are Northumberland, Belle Park, Belle Meade Highlands, and Cambridge Downs, an upscale European designed Gated community.

Belle Meade is its own small incorporated city, and is lush and beautiful with history galore and upscale restaurants and shopping. People have passed down homes and estates in this area for many generations. Well-respected and recognized last names are common here as well as a deep sense of pride for that history. Belle Meade is well endowed with its mansions and the smell of old money.

At the end of the prestigious Belle Meade Blvd, you'll find a treasure in Percy Warner Park with wooded trails through the hills and open spaces, Percy Warner Golf Course, Harpeth Hills Golf Course, and Belle Meade Country Club, all offering a scenic golf course setting. The area provides a nature center, hiking trails, equestrian facilities, golf courses, and athletic fields. Nearby you also have the historic Belle Meade Plantation and beautiful Cheekwood botanical gardens. For such a small area, it is one of the most well-protected areas in all of Nashville, definitely not the place to speed. Sperry's is a popular spot for drinks and dinner. A favorite breakfast spot is Le Peep.

West Meade also is full of beautifully treed lots and rolling hills with more moderately priced homes than Belle Meade. These two areas are in close proximity to some of the desirable private schools, and they are within a short drive of Downtown. Future predictions include more residential developments like Belle Meade Court for buyers to move into this desirable section of town and more renovation and renewal of existing homes, as well as buying homes for the lots to tear down and rebuild.

Well established and even, historic family names fill much of Belle Meade as well as newcomers with an appreciation for the rich heritage and neighborhoods there. Belle Meade home prices are more common in the million dollar plus range like the neighborhood of West Meade Estates, but many homes begin just under $500,000.

 

West Meade attracts young professionals and newcomers to mix with more established families or empty nesters. Many of these ranch homes are prime targets for renovation on these beautiful hilly lots to offer quiet serenity. West Meade area homes begin in the lower $200,000 and extend upward to a couple million. However, there are probably more available older homes under $500,000 than above it.
